Dropping a Class
During the Registration Period
During the pre-registration, open registration, and late registration period of each term, adding and dropping of classes can be managed online by logging into MySPC and accessing TexanConnect. View the SPC Academic Calendar for all registration periods.
You CANNOT add, drop, or switch classes through TexanConnect after the registration period is over.
After the Registration Period through the Official Census Date
To drop a class, students must submit a Student Initiated Drop Form. This should be used only if dropping a course. There is no fee to drop a course.
To request a schedule change (add a class), students must submit a Student Schedule Change Form. If a student wishes to add a class after the late registration period and before the official census date, permission must be granted by the instructor for the class. Permission from the instructor must be submitted via email to registrar@southplainscollege.edu. Under no circumstance may a class be added after the date indicated in the official calendar for adding a course.
After the Official Census Date
To drop a class,students mustsubmita Student Initiated Drop Form. There is no fee to drop a course.
Failure to follow the drop procedures could result in you receiving a grade of "F".
Six Course Drop Limit
Beginning in the Fall 2007 semester, all freshmen who enroll in a Texas public institution of higher education for the first time during the fall 2007 semester and thereafter, will be limited to six course drops throughout their entire undergraduate career. All course drops, including those initiated by students or faculty and any course a transfer student has dropped at another institution, automatically count toward the limit. Exceptions to the rule include:
- Students who entered college before the fall 2007 semester.
- Courses taken by dual credit or early admission students.
- Courses dropped at private or out-of-state institutions.
- Remedial or developmental courses.
- Workforce development and continuing education courses.
- Courses that meet the definition of complete withdrawal.
- Courses dropped before the official census date.
- Courses dropped due to good cause as determined by the college.
Complete Withdrawal
To completely withdraw from all of your classes, please initiate your withdrawal by scheduling an appointment with the Advising and Testing Center here or by calling 806-716-2366
Failure to follow the withdrawal procedures could result in you receiving a grades of "F".
Refunds
The below Fall and Spring Refund Schedule is based on FULL payment of tuition and fees. If a student is on tuition and fee installment contract, the refund will be reduced by the balance still owed.
