Welcome to SPC Mathematics Department!
College Algebra and Trigonometry are the absolutemost importantmath classes for any mathematics-based major. |
Immediately following are Analytical Geometry and Linear Algebra. These four math classes are essential to the building blocks of all math, science, & engineering classes as well as used mostly on the job in a STEM career. One must be fluent in each of these classes to obtain maximum success in all academic STEM classes as well as job applications in the work field. Thus, how good are your algebraic and trigonometric skills? To determine your proficiency, contact SPC Associate Professor of Mathematics , Shirley Davis, for an assessment test.
For Mathematics, Computer Science, & Engineering majors, the specific mathematic classes are offered
- MATH 1414 - College Algebra for Scientist & Engineers
- Designed specifically for STEM majors
- Not recommended for non-STEM majors
- Can also count for Honors College Algebra
- MATH 1316 - Trigonometry
- MATH 2412 - Pre-Calculus (Necessary only if neither of the first two courses are taken).
- MATH 2413, 2414, 2415 - Calculus 1, 2, & 3, respectively
- MATH 2318 - Linear Algebra
- MATH 2320 - Differential Equations
For all other majors, the following math classes are offered
- MATH 1314 - College Algebra
- College Algebra & Intermediate Algebra are offered as a co-requisite class
- MATH 1332 - College Mathematics
- MATH 1342 - Statistics
- and Business Statistics
- MATH 1316 - Trigonometry
- MATH 2412 - Pre-Calculus (Necessary only if neither of the first two course are taken).
- MAT H 2413, 2414, 2415 - Calculus 1, 2, & 3, respectively
Most math classes are offered in the summer some at the Levelland campus, some at the Reese campus, and some at the Lubbock campus. Occasionally, other math classes are offered in the summer. Check with a SPC Math advisor to determine if other math classes are offered in the summer.
