The Science Department gives students opportunities to work with faculty to gain experience in their chosen field of study.
Chemistry typically employs two student workers. One position is the scholar assistant position, while the other is the non-work study position. The scholar assistant position allows a student to work 12.5 hours per week. This student worker will help the chemistry faculty with copies, grading, organizing, and lab experiment set-ups. The non-work study position allows a student to work up to 19 hours per week. This student worker will help faculty with experiment set-ups. Please see John Heh (jheh@southplainscollege.edu) or Bangshing Wang (bwang@southplainscollege.edu) for more information about these positions.
Geology typically employs one to two student workers. These are usually both work-study positions. These workers help with grading, organizing, and lab set-ups. Please see Aaron Greene (agreene@southplainscollege.edu) for more information about these positions.
Tutoring positions are usually available in CHEM, PHYS, and GEOL. Please see Kathy Townsend (ktownsend@southplainscollege) for more information about becoming a tutor.
